[Koha] Configuration question

Similar to the Maryland library, we are automating our library (yes, no more
card catalog!) and will be entering all our materials in the end of October
and hoping to go live sometime in early '09.

I also hope not to be a pest, we are trying to set up our cataloging
parameters right now and truthfully although I took cataloging in library
school I feel like my MARC knowledge and technology knowledge are being
stretched a bit too much.

I guess my basic question is...how much of this do I need to fiddle with or
can I mostly leave things as they are.  I tweaked the authorized values a
bit...I defined our classification sources...but most of the other
categories left me scratching my head.

We don't plan on creating too many of our records, but of course we will
need to do some of that especially for our old books, town records, and
such.

If all that mapping and framework stuff is crucial would someone let me know
so I can dust off my cataloging books and try to make sense of it...I was
hoping we could use the default framework for what we needed.
