You didn't mention which distrobution you are using.
Debian Etch:
http://git.koha.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=Koha;a=blob_plain;f=INSTALL.debian;hb=3.0.x
Fedora 7:

OpenSuse:

I can't say anything about the Fedora or Suse install guides, but the Debian
guide starts with install almost all neccessary prerequisites. The most you
will have to do that is not in the guide is install the gd dev libs and some
cpan modules.
