Any number of records will still benefit from zebra indexing.  You will get
better ranking of results and more search capability, in addition to the
performance.

For maintenance ou need to schedule a cronjob to run and rebuild the index
regularly (assuming new titles are being cataloged), but the space
considerations are nominal.
