i have seem this behavior before too

your koha.xml config file's user:password combo doesnt have  
permissions to write to your koha mysql DB

1) did you create a koha DB yet?
2) does it have the same user:password as what you have defined in  
koha.xml

look in your koha-error.log for more clues
