[Koha] additional fields in items table

Dear list members,

I need to add some additional fields on the item level of our records.
For now, I decided to fill notes field in koha.items table with that
data, but I am not satisfied because my data have specific meaning.

What shoud I do? Is it advisable to add more fields in items table, or
shoud I stick with what I already have?
