There are known problems with 2.2.x and character encoding. I'd highly suggest
you upgrade to 3.0, where the problems are fixed the 'right' way. The
installation
documentation for 3.0 has some pointers on how to make sure your system is
properly configured to take full advantage of its Unicode support.
