[Koha] Mapping items -- Is it this hard for everyone or am I missing the big picture.

I guess my more important question is whether these mappings are done in 
cgi-bin/koha/admin/koha  I have tried the Links Koha---> Mapping DB page 
and each drop down menu is empty.
