[Koha] 500 error, Koha.itemtypes & default user?

Hi All,

getting a 500 error after installing koha - saw the post from mariana
lopez about reinstalling apache?  Has anyone else seen this & figured it
out (without doin' that??)

first error is Koha.itemtypes doesn't exist, and according to mysql that's
true, although 60 other tables were created=?

my default login and password don't seem to work either.   can i go in to
mysql and create another user through phpmyadmin?
