[Koha] Access denied to mainpage.pl

Hi,
I have installed Koha on my Ubuntu Linux, a Debian-based distro.
When I installed apache 1.3.3, the document root is
/usr/local/apache/htdocs.
When I installed Koha, the document root is
/usr/local/www/koha/intranet-html/
Accordingly I changed the httpd.conf line for document root to point to
Koha.
The index.html loads o.k which displays "Welcome to Koha"

But when the mainpage.pl is executed, an error message results saying that I
don't have permission to the file. I have changed the access rights to
777 without
success.

In the httpd.conf file, I have for the Koha directory,

Alllow,Deny
Allow from all

in place without success.

What do I need to do to access and execute the mainpage.pl? Could I move
the Koha directory
to the default Apache directory. Only Koha will run on the server so I
think I do not need an
entry for VirtualHost section for Apache httpd.conf file.

Thanks in advance,
