[Koha] Status of Koha 2.2+ and UNIMARC?

I think I can answer my own questions about alternative languages in UNIMARC records with reference to http://www.ifla.org/VI/3/p1996-1/sectn3.htm. Section 3.9 talks about how to represent the same information in different languages.

Before I go down this path, however, I want to double-check the status of Koha 2.2+ (I've got 2.2.3) with regard to UNIMARC. The documentation says that this version supports UNIMARC. How extensive is the support? Can you do everything with UNIMARC that you can do with MARC21? Is there a UNIMARC complement to 'bulkmarcimport.pl'?

While I can find the perl MARC modules, there doesn't seem to be any dealing with UNIMARC. Will this be a problem to me as a programmer and system administrator?

Any other questions about UNIMARC and Koha that I don't even know enough to ask about?

Thanks for your advice.
