I worked with an "Ultra 1" (nb not Creator 3D) a few years ago.  Nice 
big monitor (if only it was LCD...), not bad at IO and networking, 
lovely as an X terminal and I think you can install GNU/Linux on it.  
I think Solaris is mostly worth putting up with if you want to learn 
Solaris.  Annoys the hell out of me to have stuff I can't fix if 
needed.
