If 1.2.3, you need to set the "RunAsUser" variable in the
z3950-daemon-launch.sh script to whatever user you are running Apache
under.
I've been thinking a more elegant solution might be to execute the z3950
daemon from within the web script (using a double fork) if a Z39.50 query
is requested and the daemon is not already running. This solution would be
restricted to OS'es that implement fork, of course.
