[Koha] catalogue and opac questions

Dear Koha Experts,

We have installed Koha and are now inputting books. We have encountered a
discrepancy between what is input and what is found when searching. For example,
we input the book type (Adult Non Fiction) and the call number, but when we
search for and find the book, its type and call number are not displayed.

Item TypeClassBranchDate DueLast Seen

All of these (above) items are empty.

So, we tried to edit ("Modify") the record. To do this, we did a catalogue
search, found the record and followed the link to it. Then we chose to "modify"
the record.

However, not all of the necessary fields were included in the editing form --
the fields corresponding to the missing data above (Item TypeClassBranchDate
DueLast Seen) were all missing.

Any ideas what we're doing wrong?
