ah sorry about the late reply. i figured out the reason. it was due to a
 cross domain url issue. the ajax calls i was trying to make from inside
 the opac were to a different domain which in return cancelled out my 
ajax calls. currently i am looking for other options to avoid the 
restriction.<br>
