Thanks Rob, that worked like a charm. It turns out I actually had that
it. *sigh* Another slope up in the learning curve. And sometimes I feel like
Probably not with that info. At the very least, which browser/version
is used and is the "error" message actually just the word "error" or
does it give more detail?
(Not that I can help with Windows-specifics or the Yahoo! javascript.)
Hi Meiling,

The cataloging client was developed by LibLime as part of the Google
Summer of Code, last
summer, and subsequently we have been working toward a 1.0 release of
that software, which
we're calling 'Biblios'. It's in beta testing right now, and in fact,
you can trial it on the LibLime Koha 3
demo at koha.liblime.com (Click on the Biblios link). It's a separate
project from koha because it's
functionally distinct enough to be a standalone application.

How this relates to Koha is that we have written plugins between Koha
and Biblios to allow Biblios
to not only retrieve records from Koha, but also save them directly to
Koha either one at a time,
or in batch.

The demo is somewhat limited, but should give you a sense of the basic
functionality.

Hope that's helpful.

Cheers,
Hello All,

We've just started looking at Koha for our library, and I ran across
this promising bit from a press release: "In addition to its
virtually unparalleled MARC support, Zebra will allow Koha to store
any structured record format (email, XML, Dublin Core) opening new
horizons for special collections. " We're interested in integrating
some of our archives and digital images collections into the catalog
- are there any Koha libraries that have already done anything like
this? Is there any documentation or discussion that I should look at
to give me a better idea of how this might work? Everything I've
found so far focuses on MARC.

Thanks!
Cody
Subject: [Koha] A question about fines and account lines
To: koha@lists.katipo.co.nz
Message-ID: <20080326200351.D166D1581BE5@www.grbc.net>

Short version: In the "accountlines" table, there is a field called
"accounttype" that can have values like L, F, FU, FM, O, etc. What do
those values mean?

Long version: I'm using the script <KOHA>/bin/cronjobs/fines2.pl to
calculate fines on a nightly basis. It works pretty well, but I
noticed that it has this line:

UpdateFine($data->[$i]->{'itemnumber'},
$data->[$i]->{'borrowernumber'},$amount,$type,$due);

This calls the UpdateFine subroutine in C4/Overdues.pm, which runs this
command:

my $sth2 = $dbh->prepare(
"INSERT INTO accountlines
(borrowernumber,itemnumber,date,amount,
description,accounttype,amountoutstanding,accountno) VALUES
(?,?,now(),?,?,'FU',?,?)"
);

Note how "FU" is hardcoded as the "accounttype" in this section. But
when a patron is viewing his/her summary screen in the OPAC (i.e.
http://www.example.net/cgi-bin/koha/opac-user.pl) and has an overdue
item, the line under "Fines" always says "No".

Why? Because opac-user.pl has this bit of code:

my $charges = 0;
foreach my $ac (@$accts) {
if ( $ac->{'itemnumber'} == $issue->{'itemnumber'} ) {
$charges += $ac->{'amountoutstanding'}
if $ac->{'accounttype'} eq 'F';
$charges += $ac->{'amountoutstanding'}
if $ac->{'accounttype'} eq 'L';
}
}
$issue->{'charges'} = $charges;

So, $charges is only going to be passed to the template if the
accounttype is "F" or "L". But since C4/Overdues.pm is always setting
it to "FU", that will never happen, and the Summary screen will always
tell the patron they have no fines.

So, can anyone tell me what the different accounttypes are? I could
fix this, I guess, by changing the code for the UpdateFine subroutine
or opac-user.pl fine calculation, but I don't want to go fiddling with
the code lest it have some unforseen side effect.

Thanks.
