I'm using OpenLDAP 2.2.29 on Fedora Core 4.
I'm on SuSE Linux Enterprise server 9, with OpenLDAP 2.2.24
And a question to Paul Poulain: which ldap server are you using? I'm on 
openldap, and things don't work... Koha says the users's password is 
wrong, where I am pretty sure that it *IS* the right password.

    
Password encryption is where I think Auth.pm falls down. This entry

These are all the same password. The SMD5,MD5 doesn't work in Koha the
bottom one does. The bottom password was uploaded to LDAP using
ldapmodify, as clear text. OpenLDAP must have a default method for
encryption.

I, (we) have to figure a way for the code to try other methods. I'm not
very well versed in Perl and will have to seek help to get this to
work.
I am sorry to say, but I really cannot help you there. I would however really like this to be resolved, because if we cannot get around this, it will be a show stopper for us... I was really looking forward to have our library use koha...

If there's any way I can help (without perl knowledge, that is...) please do let me know! One way I thought of myself: IF we finally get this beast up and running, I will document it all, and publish try to it at the kohadocs website, so other people can benefit. (as there currently is really very little info about koha/ldap)

You can store an encrypted password in any form in LDAP. LDAP doesn't
care.
Yep, I didn't express myself clearly: What I meant is exactly what you wrote earlier: "Password encryption is where auth.pm falls down"

Anyway, hope you will find a solution, and again I'm sorry I really cannot be of any help from here on... Please keep me informed about developments...
