[Koha] Problems with MYQSL

Dear Community

I have run into some problems with mysql when i tried to root access
because I am attempting to set up my vufind, see the steps below:
*My version is: *
>From Koha interface/  About page:
MySQL version: mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.3.34-MariaDB, for debian-linux-gnu
(x86_64) using readline 5.2

*However when i attempt to access it like below i got stuck: *

root at sciwhk-abcd:~# mysql -u root -p
Enter password:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

*and then i try;*

sudo service mysql start
*I get:*
Failed to start mysql.service: Unit mysql.service not found.

*then i try to reinstalling the package:*
*apt-get install mysql-server mysql-client and i get this message*

0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
2 not fully installed or removed.
After this operation, 0 B of additional disk space will be used.

My question is: Does uninstalling the myqsl packages affect koha data or is
there a solution i can perhaps explore further.
