[Koha] Embed Local video files like YouTube

Hi Vinod,

 

Koha, at least as of 19.11, has the capacity to handle non-YouTube media. I won’t give you remote support here, but perhaps someone else can or perhaps you can engage a support provider.

Hello David

 

We have videos on Intranet and in MP4 format, but it seems current provision is for YouTube only and it fetches/embed the video nicely in Koha but not mine on Intranet.

 

Please suggest.

Looking at the code, it appears that you can embed other videos and not just Youtube videos. You'll need to use the system preferences HTML5MediaEnabled and HTML5MediaExtensions, and make sure your 856$u has a valid URL to the video. You may need to transcode your video if it's in a format that doesn't work with HTML Video.  

It also depends on what you mean by "Local server". Is this the same server that is running Koha? Is it a separate file server? So long your server provides the video over HTTP(S) in a way that is accessible to your users, I think that you should be fine.

As we have an option to activate YouTube online video embed feature within Koha, similarly i wish to embed lecture videos kept in Local server. Please let me know how we can make it possible like YouTube videos?
