Hi Jack,
the OPAC showing maintenance is a sign that Koha wants to run the web
installer to update your database version to match the Koha version you
installed. The user and password are the MySQL/MariaDB database user's.
You can find it in the koha_conf.xml file of your installation if you
are not aware of it.
Hope this helps,
Katrin

I did the install of Koha using apt-get install koha-common. did a transfer of my database with mysql -uroot -p < path/koha.sql. My database with all data is installed in my koha_jackslibrary. I am unable to see my library at localhost:80, it displays under maintenance, and 8080 is asking for a username and password. None of the logins work to gain access to the system. My browser is Chromium. I just don't care for Firefox.
