[Koha] Error: timeout specified has expired - unable to access koha back-end

This is what we're running:

Koha version: 	16.05.00.000
Perl version: 	5.016003
MySQL version: 	mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 5.5.56-MariaDB, for Linux (x86_64)
using readline 5.1
Apache version: 	Server version: Apache/2.4.6 (CentOS) Server built: Apr 20
2018 18:10:38
Zebra version: 	Zebra 2.1.3 (C) 1994-2017

It's running on a virtual server (within Windows). I'm not sure which type
of Linux or how it was installed (I can find out next week).
