Hello All -

Well I can't sleep and I fly back home in the morning (actually have to be
awake in 3 hours - hopefully after this email I can sleep). There is
something about this that bothers me and I think we are getting too far
in-front of ourselves - because currently the bank account reads zero....

I am completely sorry to miss the meeting and any emails, it happens when
you travel with a 2.5 year old. And the follow up meeting time in one week
is 2am for me so I think I will miss that one as well.

The most important thing about this whole idea is WE NEED volunteers that
want to raise money for Koha. It's really that simple, if you think you
have a good creative way to raise money for the fund, then WE NEED you!

It doesn't really matter who or what signs this MOU, we need to start
collecting money. I am PROUD to have my name on this MOU as I was the one
who wrote the first draft, presented the idea for years at conferences and
then I needed assistance from Bob to push it to the next level. If my name
is not on the MOU, so be it, I just want to help collect money for Koha so
that we can really just move forward.

Let's get some money and then we can have the full discussions about
everything else that people are worried about (you need money before you
really decide how to spend it).

Just to say that again - If nobody is interested in creative ways of
seeking money for the project (see EBSCO grant - which ByWater stands to
not make a single dime from - I will follow up on that in a few days as I
am getting pieces in place) - like grants from vendors who have third party
products integrated with Koha, large public/private grants, donations from
support vendors, ILMS grants, friends (5 bucks a month makes a difference),
code-a-thons (donate 10/25 cents per line of code pushed in a month), and
anyone who has heard "NO" a hundred times and doesn't want to give up and
will continuously ask for money. If we do not have at least say 7 people
that want to do that - then we don't really need to have a vote for who
gets to put their name on the MOU (cause in the end it really doesn't
matter).

Just my 2 cents... Please do not read any tone into this message - I love
this idea, it's sorely needed for Koha, it isn't anything hasty as it's
been discussed for years. I am tired, I have been traveling for 16 days,
most of them involving a Koha activity per day - it sure was great to see
you all.

I would also be honored to volunteer to raise money for Koha... (and just
to be very clear - that's one of my greatest loves - Koha)

Thanks and Cheers,
Brendan Gallagher (MLS class of 2008)
