[Koha] Question about "item type" nested and localization

That nested form you mention sounds more like a classification system. You
might, at a stretch, be able to use 745 Taxonomic Identification for that,
but I don't know how well it will search and display in Koha, you'll
probably have to edit the framework.
We use item types in our catalogue for different physical formats - books,
manuscripts, microforms, audio formats, video formats, etc. We also group
things by collections, as this often relates to their physical location.
You can add more item types as needed, but I don't think they will nest.
Look in Home>Administration> Item types administration under Basic
parameters.
