[Koha] Problem with Koha and self-checkout kiosk

Hi folks!

We're installing a self-check kiosk from FE Technologies and have been having a problem with the kiosk talking to Koha.  We're running Koha version 3.12.03.000 and the following is what has been forwarded to me by tech support at FE Technologies:

When running through other tests manually such as login, item information, patron information, patron login etc the SIP connection is steady and does not have any issues no matter how many requests I send.

Above is a small snippet of the logs which I will try to explain.
Everything highlighted red is a checkout request. We are sending the correct information to the LMS but we do not receive anything back and this is where it drops out. If I copy the same SIP request highlighted in red and manually process this request it drops out and disconnects as shown in the logs. This shows me there is certainly an issue with how Koha is responding to a checkout request.

In case the colours in the above do not come out in the above, lines 5, 13, and 25 are the lines in red showing the request.  Initially I had thought it was a problem with the circulation rules but after cloning the rules to the branch from All libraries (we have only one branch), I was able to check out and in using the FE Technologies Circulation Assistant connected to my PC.  The logs above are from after that change.

FE Technologies are still investigating but any ideas from the community would be very much appreciated.
