NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL TEACHERS TRAINING & RESEARCH

The Resource Centre, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and
Research (NITTTR), is organizing a Advanced Certificate Course on “Modern
Library Practices” (6th Batch), which will be held on 04th December 2013 to
28th January 2014 at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and
Research (NITTTR) (Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India)
Taramani, Chennai 600 113, Tamil Nadu, India. The course is designed for
practicing teachers / librarians and / or curriculum developers in Library
and Information Science of Overseas people with a degree / diploma in
library and Information Science and minimum of two years experience in
teaching / administration.  The course is sponsored by Ministry of External
Affairs, Government of India under ITEC / SCAAP.

1.	Interested persons should apply, in the prescribed form, through their
own Ministries / Departments or the Foreign Office, who will recommend the
application to the Indian High Commission or the Embassy Resident in a
particular country. The authorized officials of the foreign Government will
be responsible for nominating the applicants. 

2.	The employees and officials of the Government, Public Sector Enterprises,
Universities and Chamber of Commerce and Industries are eligible to apply
for scholarship under ITEC and SCAAP. (To know details about ITEC & SCACP
countries,  please visit the website: http://itec.mea.gov.in/)  The
scholarship covers free international airfare, tuition fees, accommodation,
medical and health care and out of pocket expenses (Living Allowance). The
Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India gives the
scholarship.

3.	Upon selection, the Indian Embassies and High Commissions would inform
the concerned authorities. The Indian Missions abroad would brief the
selected candidates about the training Programme in India and will also
provide an economy / tourist class return air ticket to the candidates for
their travel to India.

Applicants for this course must be

Teachers / practicing librarians and / or curriculum developers  in Library
and Information Science have a diploma / degree   in library and Information
Science or equivalent

Have a minimum of two years experience in teaching / administration of  on
Library Have a good proficiency in English which is the medium of
instruction

Preferably not more than 45 years


Library  Science Teachers / Library Officers and Librarians.

Security Systems, Integration of Digital Library Module in ILMS etc, 

-	Developing and Managing electronic resource collection – collection
process - acceptable utility policies – E-Journals Management, Consortia
Management, Impact of IT. & TQM in Libraries

-	Databases - Database Management Systems 

-	Developing Library Services for E-Learning or Distance Education. Serving
remote users.

-	Information & Communication Technology Concepts - Basics of Networking -
Local Area Network -  Wireless Applications W-LAN, 

-	Internet and its usage, Search Engines Technology - Internet Resources,
Subject Gateways and Portals. Webometrics/Webliometrics, Semantic Web and
Taxonomies. 

-	Webpage designing – HTML – Dream weaver, Web site hosting, Web server
applications. TCP/IP, Mail Server Configuration etc

-	Digital libraries -  digital initiatives - types of digital collections - 
digital library software (green stone) rules of cooperation in building and
using digital collections – intuitional repository - digital preservation -
economic, legal and management issues related to digital libraries.
Copyright and IPR issues

-	Cataloguing system – RDA (new AACR), FRBR, Marc, Metadata Standards, RDF,
XML Language, Ontology etc

-	Soft Skills – Manners and Etiquette – Self-Esteem – Motivation –
Communication Skill – Presentation Skill – Interpersonal Skill – Stress
Management.
