Yes of course it is (I still remember SNOBOL), but I was querying "why not 
in the middle of a string" (i.e. why the " ^ ") ?

Example "1812 - The War That Forged a Nation."  The "the" in this title is 
no more relevant than in "The Naval War of 1812."
