Dear Mahesh

Staff and Student are totally two different category, Staff is for the
library professional staff who has different rights like issue, return,
cataloguing of books, journals, CD, etc.

Whereas Student will be like any other library users. Student can see their
account to see how many books issues, fine status, any special notice,
checkout history (if configured), contact details, etc. It always
recommended to provide username and password to library users (students,
faculty, outside members). This will library users to see all records
related to them, instead of coming to the circulation staff and disturbing
the circulation staff. Circulation staff can use this time for some
productive work like study of shelves, understanding the collection, usage
patterns, etc.

You can provide username and password for student to access their account.
Generally username is the Library ID and password is students' first name.

Revert for any clarifications or help.

Thanks and Regards

You shouldn't have to do anything in systempreferences. Just set up a
borrower with a user name and password and they can login to check
their status.

They don't need to login to search, unless you change OpacPublic preference.
