Koha 3.2 has/will have a bulk item edition tool: you select your 
barcodes/itemnumber, you define what changes you want to do, and it's 
done on all your items-collection (information useless to LEK users 
probably, sorry)

For the rest of your problem: couldn't marcedit be usefull to update 
your marcrecords before importing them ?
