Do the specs you’ve given the vendor include how to format item data in the 952?

Your suspicion is correct. Any vendor's records will import into Koha as long as they are valid and match your MARC framework. The latter is usually where the hangups are, specifically regarding item data, barcode format, etc. In practice, I have dealt with any number of vendors supplying records that did not match the specs sent with a given order, even in cases where they had done so successfully on previous orders.

In that scenario, I had various custom conversion scripts available patched together, but they were all doing essentially the same thing you can do with the open source tool MarcEdit. On bigger orders, we would contact the vendor and request conformant data, and on little ones we would probably just fix it ourselves.

Hi All-

I'm pretty sure of the answer for this question but must post it to satisfy others.

Will MARC records from Baker & Taylor import into Koha without any problems? We were having problems with importing Follett records in and have a fix that works for now although it may be affecting imports from other vendors.

My guess is that yes, Baker & Taylor records will import into Koha as long as the Marc Specs have been changed to meet the Koha 3.0 requirements.

Please let me know if you have imported records from Baker & Taylor and if it works or not.

Thanks,
Marie
