Interesting. It's good to know that solved your problem! I must admit
that I would probably try less "drastic" solutions than commenting out
"problematic" Perl code, like you did. But, like you said, because
you're not planning on using the Z3950 search functionality, I think
that I understand why you felt comfortable with that approach.
