[Koha] Field display question

Hi all,

there seems to be a limit in the catalogue to how many characters can be 
displayed in some fields in the OPAC hit list and in opac-detail, for 
example "publicationyear".  Same problem on the corresponding intranet 
display pages.
Is there a way of allowing more of the field to be made visible? If so, 
where can it be done?

We use version 2.2.9 on Debian.
