This could work, but believe me, NOT in Poland. We`ve had at least a 
couple of very unpleasant situations, including court case, just because 
borrowers "ditn`t know" they have to return books earlier and they found 
shortening due dates "unacceptable". One old lady went to local 
newspaper and called us "fascists" only because we charged her $10 for 
overdues. Counting on people`s decency and common sense is asking for 
trouble, in my view. Book drop and grace days won`t solve the problem. 
You may think I`m a little paranoid, but all I want is to eliminate as 
many possibilities of controversial situations as possible.
