[Koha] z3950 daemon ends abruptly

I've been trying to get the z3950 daemon to launch (and stay launched) and
am having some trouble.  The log file says:

Bareword "Net::Z3950::RecordSyntax::USMARC" not allowed while "strict subs"
in use at /usr/local/koha/intranet/scripts/z3950daemon/processz3950queue

Bareword "Net::Z3950::RecordSyntax::UNIMARC" not allowed while "strict subs"
in use at /usr/local/koha/intranet/scripts/z3950daemon/processz3950queue
line 261.
Execution of /usr/local/koha/intranet/scripts/z3950daemon/processz3950queue
aborted due to compilation errors.

I've looked through processz3950queue and nothing obvious pops out at me,
but that's not a suprise.

Any suggestions?
