On line 246, replace :
                                my $stj=$dbh->prepare("update 
z3950results set active=1 where id=?");
by
                                my $stj=$dbi->prepare("update 
z3950results set active=1 where id=?");

As $dbh is defined BEFORE the fork, and may create the problem, while 
$dbi is defined INSIDE the if{} following the fork and is a 
process-specific handler.

confirm this works on the list pls.
