How many libraries currenty run Koha?
Does anyone have an official count on the libraries running Koha and growth by year?
Hi Joe, Unfortunately, the koha.org site is woefully inaccurate in this regard, partly because Koha is free to download (not everyone reports back that they are running it). The most comprehensive list at this time is available at: http://www.librarytechnology.org - click on 'libwebcats' - perform an advanced search limiting search to 'current automation system' as 'Koha' This is also inaccurate (not all of LibLime's clients are even in there yet!), but it's the most up to date that I know of. Hope this helps! --Tina, LibLime On Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 10:58 AM, Joe Malik <whylime9@yahoo.com> wrote:

how could we count the number of ppl using a software freely downloadable & that can be redistributed... The only public counter is the list of libraries that have declared themselves on wiki.koha.org. But thats probably less than 10% of the real count. -- Paul POULAIN http://www.biblibre.com Expert en Logiciels Libres pour l'info-doc NOUVEAU TELEPHONE : 04 91 81 35 08
I don't think there will ever be an official count since there are people all over the world installing it themselves and never communicating on the list or talking to support vendors. But there is a list on Lib-Web-Cats of libraries using Koha that LibLime tries to keep as up to date as possible: http://www.librarytechnology.org/libwebcats/ --- Nicole C. Paul, You can add the libraries you know about! That would be great to have a more complete list. --- Nicole C. Many open source products call back to base to check for updates, register, etc. Koha could optionally do the same when it is fired up. The option to do so could be determined at installation time, so that the library is clearly informed that they can optionally call back to base for statistics gatehring purposes. cheers rickw -- ________________________________________________________________ Rick Welykochy || Praxis Services || Internet Driving Instructor Blessed are the cracked for they let in the light. -- Spike Milligan

Yea, that would certainly tell us how many installations of Koha there had been during a given period, but not how many systems are up and running in production.

If there is a web site that allows self registration, and display the registered site names, that may be a way to handle this.
