I gave a presentation on open source software and library mangement systems (inclusing Koha) to a bunch of library students last week and that was one of the questions they asked me! I've not implemented Koha yet but hope to in the next few months.

Note that their answer is right only for a 1.2.x version. In the 2.0 release, there will ba a thesaurus/authority management, that already works pretty well in 1.9.1, and that is close to the MARC authority format ("accepted form", "rejected form" are there.
