Editing 100a personal name field
Dear all I wonder if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong. I want to either edit the personal name (ie 100a) for imported records or write to it when doing original cataloguing. There must be a switch somewhere which allows me to type in the box, but I can't do so at the moment. I've looked at the staff side demo sites and it's not possible to enter data, or edit imported data on those sites either. I would be very grateful if someone could let me know how to do this. I can get the authority search box up but I don't want to do that. I just want to be able to type directly into the box - I've obviously switched something wrong during the set up. Help please Many thanks Jan
Switch the value you have in the BiblioAddsAuthorities system preference. I thought I had a tip about this in the manual - but I can't find it - so I'll have to make it more prominent for the next person who asks :) --- Nicole C. Hi ya, Before we contemplate re-writing the wheel (as it were :-) Is there a goober guide to searching? Have checked out the 3.0 documentation but was after something specifically for the OPAC searchers (so without the configuration stuff) https://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/Home/Table-of-Contents/se... https://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/Home/Table-of-Contents/se... Cheers Rachel
What is a "goober guide"? I don't have anything written up yet for searching the OPAC - so I'd love to see whatever you write. --- Nicole C. goober is a general synonym for newbie ;) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=goober Rach and I have been talking for a while about compiling a 1-2 page 'koha3 searching cheat-sheet' with simple and poweruser examples can someone confirm what search syntax koha3 *actually* use in the search-bar? CCL, CQL, PQF or something else? my hunch (after quite a bit of poking!) is CCL, anyone?? CCL examples below.. http://www.indexdata.dk/yaz/doc/tools.tkl#CCL CQL examples below.. http://www.indexdata.dk/yaz/doc/tools.tkl#cql http://zing.z3950.org/cql/intro.html PQF examples below.. http://www.indexdata.dk/yaz/doc/tools.tkl#PQF cheers, Mason

hi Folks FYI: heres some CCL starter info for koha3 searching: a good general one... http://www.aet.reorient.org.uk/content/page/cclhelp and some more... http://www.indexdata.dk/yaz/doc/tools.tkl#CCL http://perl.z3950.org/docs/Z3950/Tutorial.html or the official ISO spec (ISO 8777) - for €70 :( http://www.iso.org/iso/iso_catalogue/catalogue_tc/ catalogue_detail.htm?csnumber=16192 Mason.
Nora thanks for the docs. Everyone else, I can incorporate any guides that you might write into the manual for others to benefit from. But as you've noticed the only guides we have are pretty library-centric and not meant for newbies/goobers :) --- Nicole C.
