Good morning all, Could anyone recommend a (preferably as inexpensive as possible) vendor for pre-printed barcodes? I'm looking to get 10,000 labels printed, and most quotes I'm finding are in the mid-hundreds. Hoping for a little less! Thank you Caitlin McGurk Head Librarian The Center for Cartoon Studies McGurk@cartoonstudies.org
If you're willing/able to print them yourself, gLabels is a nice Linux application that can be used to create barcodes. We've started using it to generate generic barcodes (with just a barcode number and the library name) for our libraries. You can feed it a csv file containing the barcode numbers you want to print. You could also include other data in that file such as author and title, too, I suppose. As for printing your own barcodes, there is also kbarcode (kbarcode.net) which can do a lot more than just print barcodes, like patroncards etc. It can take information from your database.
