Hello When I connect to the OPAC the response is very slow. In the koha-opac-error_log I have several entries of this kind: [Tue Apr 22 14:03:39 2008] [error] [client 83.78.131.31] File does not exist: /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs/intranet-tmpl, referer: http://bibliothek.ksobwalden.ch/ What is wrong here? (intranet-tmpl shoudn't be loaded with the OPAC??) Cheers Beda

In my installation of Koha 3 Beta 2, the intranet-tmpl directory (folder) is located at: /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl ...and NOT in /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl (like it seems to be in your installation). So, to sum it up, in my setup of Koha 3 Beta 2 (which is a reasonably "default" one): - OPAC templates are located at: /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs/opac-tmpl - Intranet templates are located at: /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl I hope this helps. It's at _that_ place.

Same with me. Greetings Beda

What is wrong here? (intranet-tmpl shoudn't be loaded with the OPAC??) Also check your YUI system preference and make sure you're pointing to the yahoo site rather than serving up those pages locally. Also, consider upgrading to the beta2 if you haven't already.

And where do I find those yui system preferences? (I'm running 3.0 beta and 3.0 beta2 and the problem is the same at both places). Thank you Beda

Under System Preferences search for yui, or go to Staff Client tab Marijana

Thank you. I changed it to http://yui.yahooapis.com/2.3.1/build - the second choice. Now there are no more errors in the log. But: Why doesn't /intranet-tmpl/prog/en/lib/yui/ do the job? What's the reason for using an online resource? I noticed too that Koha looks up www.google-analytics.com some time. Why so? (At the school I intend to use Koha, this seemes to be blocked by the central firewall - and that slows koha down a lot). Greetings Beda

You can use the locally hosted YUI files if you prefer. It's entirely up to you. Here's some additional information about why some users choose to go with the Yahoo-hosted files:
"What Are the Benefits of Having Yahoo! Host YUI Files? Yahoo!'s network is located throughout the world. HTTP requests for YUI files are evaluated to determine their geographic source and then served from in-region server farms wherever possible. This edge-computing system provides shorter round-trip times for packets as compared to the use of centralized network hosts. Because YUI files (consisting of JavaScript files, CSS files, and image resources) are static, there need be no relationship between the server providing these files and the server holding session information and business logic for a given application. Moving these files off a central server and closer to your users, therefore, should make your application more responsive overall. Moreover, Yahoo!'s hosting network is configured to serve JavaScript and CSS using gzip compression. We minify YUI JavaScript before pushing it to our servers; in combination with gzipping, this results in a 90% reduction in transmitted filesize as compared to the footprint of YUI's raw (and commented) source. CSS files weigh 60% less on the wire using gzip compression. If your current host does not support mod-gzip or mod-deflate, the advantages of using Yahoo! hosting could be dramatic. (See "YUI: Weighing in on Pageweights" for a full discussion of YUI filesizes.) Finally, far-future Expires headers are issued on all static content. This HTTP response header directs the browser to retain content in cache (and to access it from the cache) as long as possible. Improving your cache hit rate will reduce the amount of time your users spend waiting for files to download." -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

Actually, I have the same problem as the original poster. Since performance really seems to be better if I host the YUI files locally, I have YUIPATH set to the default of "'/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/lib/yui" . This works fine for the Intranet... but any OPAC page that needs the YUI stuff will generate code like this: <script type="text/javascript" src="/intranet-tmpl/prog/en/lib/yui/utilities/utilities.js"></script> which will fail because there is no "intranet-tmpl" directory in the OPAC tree. Maybe Koha needs some sort of shared directory that contains web files needed by both the Intranet and OPAC side? A directory that can then be mapped into the docroot of both the Intranet and OPAC sites within koha-httpd.conf ? Maybe something like this? (code not tested...) 1) put this in the OPAC and Intranet sections of koha-httpd.conf: Alias /koha-share/ "/usr/share/koha/webshare/" <Directory "/usr/share/koha/webshare/"> Options None AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> 2) Make sure /usr/share/koha/webshare/prog/en/lib/yui/ exists, has the YUI files in it, etc. 3) Set the YUIPATH system preference to "/koha-share/prog/en/lib/yui" _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself wherever you are.
