Hello everybody, Does anyone managed to import tinlib (tinman/information navigator) informations into koha? I am evaluating the migration of a library from tinlib to koha 3 beta and they already have 80k of records in tinlib. Best regards, Len
I'm not familiar with tinlib, but if you can export your books in MARC format, you've gotten a lot of the work done. Does tinlib use an SQL database?
Tinlib uses something called a tinman database which is not an SQL database but rather a legacy database. My main concern is for now to read this binary files and export the data into something which can be processed further such as text, csv. The database files consist of one index file and 400 ubfixit050.number files. This is what I don't know how to read. Len On Tue, 2008-05-27 at 17:33 -0600, Jesse wrote:

Unless tinlib has an export tool or one is available on the internet (wasn't able to find one in a quick Google), you might be out of luck. Do any of the liblime people have experience with this software?

I once did a data migration from Tinlib, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember the details - suffice it to say, though, is that there is some hope of getting useful data out. Sorry to not have a more useful response. Regards, Galen -- Galen Charlton Koha Application Developer LibLime galen.charlton@liblime.com p: 1-888-564-2457 x709
Dear all, Some years ago I worked with TINLIB. As I remember the only way to export records was to select all and do a report for a file. The problem is that this export only create records with a tag and content. So you must have a conveter for CSV to import for KOHA. I sugest you check with your version wich format you can use to write records for a file. Then you need to convert these records. Regards, Rafael Citando Jesse <pianohacker@gmail.com>:

Thank you very much for the effort, I will search further and let you know if I find a solution. Regards, Len www.len.ro On Wed, 2008-05-28 at 10:36 -0600, Jesse wrote:
