When i am installing CPAN i have given the Proxy but i am getting the following error Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] 4 invalid items entered, try again I have entered 'ASIA' and 4 but this is not taking any option. Also when i running the perl Makefile.PL for Koha 3.00 i am getting the following [Mon Jan 12 16:25:10 2009] Makefile.PL: Warning: prerequisite DBD::mysql 4.004 not found. We have 3.0007. [Mon Jan 12 16:25:10 2009] Makefile.PL: Warning: prerequisite DBI 1.53 not found. We have 1.52. [Mon Jan 12 16:25:14 2009] Makefile.PL: Warning: prerequisite Net::Z3950::ZOOM 1.16 not found. [Mon Jan 12 16:25:14 2009] Makefile.PL: Warning: prerequisite PDF::API2 2 not found. [Mon Jan 12 16:25:14 2009] Makefile.PL: Warning: prerequisite PDF::API2::Page 2 not found. Uma, The warnings from perl Makefile.pl look ominous, so i am not sure you should proceed. You can directly supply a URL to a CPAN mirror using the below. i am assuming you are doing this at the 'cpan' prompt. cpan> o conf urllist <yourChosenURL> For e.g., choose a URL from http://cpan.org/SITES.html Then, cpan> o conf urllist http://www.perl.com/CPAN/ i am not sure if Yahoo will convert the above into some hyperlinked text, so please type it out again or choose your own URL from the list of mirrors. Also, the prompt accepts commands of the form 'shift' or 'unshift' (its a data structure) to add and remove URLs to the list of URLs. You can basically experiment by doing cpan> o conf urllist shift <anotherURL> then, display the value of urllist by cpan> o conf urllist and so on, similarly for unshift. Don't worry, at any time, you can reset the value of urllist and start over! regards, krishnan ________________________________ From: Uma Mukkamala <uma.mukkamala@ril.com> To: koha@lists.katipo.co.nz Sent: Monday, 12 January, 2009 4:29:49 PM Subject: [Koha] Issues while installig Koha 3.00 on redhat 5.0 linux When i am installing CPAN i have given the Proxy but i am getting the following error Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] 4 invalid items entered, try again I have entered 'ASIA' and 4 but this is not taking any option. Dear Uma, Your first statement describes that you are behind a proxy and you are unable to get through a proper cpan mirror, i just figured out a working mirror for you to reconfigure you cpan run teh bellow command... # cpan cpan> o conf init | |(once you reach at 'Select you continent' option select (7)South America ->(2)Brazil -> (2) http://cpan.kinghost.net) (1) Africa (2) Asia (3) Central America (4) Europe (5) North America (6) Oceania (7) South America Select your continent (or several nearby continents) [] 7 (1) Argentina (2) Brazil (3) Venezuela Select your country (or several nearby countries) [] 2 (1) ftp://cpan.pop-mg.com.br/pub/CPAN/ (2) http://cpan.kinghost.net/ (previous pick) Select as many URLs as you like (by number), put them on one line, separated by blanks, e.g. '1 4 5' (or just hit RETURN to keep your previous picks) [2] 2 Now about the warning you are getting while running makefile.pl, you need to install all of them before you run makefile.pl, to do so use 'cpan install' # cpan install {the module name} (e.g # cpan install Net::Z3950::ZOOM) Anand Sharma RDG Library Services, Mumbai, India. 091-9870339028,091-9220579647 ----------------------------------------------------- Free Software is a matter of freedom, not cost.
