EDI, automated purchasing process
Good Afternoon, A customer of ours is looking at implementing KOHA. However, as far as I can see, EDI has not been implemented yet. Is there any other form of electronic or automated ordering available in KOHA? Is there a timeframe as to when EDI would be implemented? Koha 3.0 Roadmap Status: Planning Feature: EDI or related technology for automating the purchasing process, etc. Who: CC, RH, MJ Note: Baker and Taylor support; Ebsco support. Thanks, Ivan Lee ilee@lsc.on.ca
Hi Ivan, I have our local supplier investigating this for us now, TLS here in NZ, and they report the folowing: "You can import MARC, update bibliographic information and then attach an order record but no XML type capability at present as far as I can see. Probably need to be looking at ONIX compliance from the publisher/supplier side as well. ONIX is a publisher standard that uses the XML format and makes EDI easy via EDIFACT." CHeers Jo. Who is the TLS mentioned previously? TTLLP software.coop will implement EDIFACT but we need more sources of good example messages for testing and development. Local booksellers have not been helpful (to put it mildly) and direct industry contacts have not yet produced the goods for us. We will track progress in http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=2443 once there is some! Hope that explains, -- MJ Ray (slef). Hi there, TLS is a Library Supply Company in NZ. I have cc'd Glen French in on this as he has been testing our test Koha 3.0 to see how they can best add orders to our database for items they are ordering on our behalf. He knows more about it at this point than i do! Cheers Jo., MJ Ray wrote:
