Database without tables

Otherwise :) The patches there that make it work are in master (which became 3.20), 3.18, and 3.16. As for the original issue:
Details: the server is a remote server accessing using ssh, operative system is Debian Jessie, the server where I've installed koha is the same running mysql so I understand I have to use koha-create --create-db, but the result is a warning about empty instance and no staff user created.
This is expected behaviour, we should really suppress that message as it's a little misleading. It is saying that because there are situations where you might start with a default database, and it will create a staff user in it. But if you're not starting with a default database, it can't do that, and it tells you. Not having a default database is the most common case though, so it shouldn't tell you.
If I obseve the database using mysl, I can see the database but wiht no tables into.
If I go to OPAC or intra sites, the only I get is a field to write a search and nothing else.
These two symptoms aren't compatible: if you don't have tables, you will not get a search box. My guess is that you're doing something wrong in accessing the site. If you have no tables, on the OPAC you should get a "maintenance mode" message, and on the staff client you should get an interface that lets you set up Koha for the first time. -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5FA7 4B49 1E4D CAA4 4C38 8505 77F5 B724 F871 3BDF
Hi All, I'm trying to load some authority data into Koha 3.20.01.000 on Debian 8 Jessie. I'm loading the data as follows: # export KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/sites/sbt/koha-conf.xml # /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/bulkmarcimport.pl -a -m marcxml -file testdata.marcxml -v 2 While loading the following two lines do appear: Use of uninitialized value $authid in addition (+) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/AuthoritiesMarc.pm line 685, <GEN13> line 1. Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /usr/share/perl5/MARC/File/XML.pm line 397, <GEN13> chunk 4344. Still after loading the table "auth_header" shows all records just fine. Since the records are not yet searchable in the staff client I'm indexing them as follows: # export PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib # /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -run-as-root -r -a -v Now the "Authority search results" page tells me (for example) "Results 1 to 3 of 3" - but the result table is only showing the headings (Summary / Used in / ), but not the lines with the actual results. I loaded the same data using the same commands in another installation of Koha 3.20.01.000 on Ubuntu 12.04 which worked flawlessly. Can anyone please give me a hint why the authority search will show me the correct number of results but not the actual results? Hi Michael Since you haven't linked any authorities to bibliographic records yet, it might be worth checking what the OPACShowUnusedAuthorities is set to. Chris

Hi Michael

Hi Chris The parameter "OPACShowUnusedAuthorities" is set to "Show" - but as I understand this will affect the OPAC while I am doing an authority search in the staff client. Interestingly enough I now also searched in the OPAC and Koha DOES show the actual result there. But not in the staff client's authority search! What am I doing wrong?! Michael

Hmmmm, I have no more ideas. You'll have to figure out what you did differently this time vs the last time when it was working. The code itself hasn't changed, so it must be something you did differently. Chris

Hi Chris Sorry for the misinformation - I was searching in the other installation which works fine anyway. In the installation with the problem as said the parameter "OPACShowUnusedAuthorities" is set to "Show". If I search in the OPAC it takes some time but won't show no results. In the staff clients it shows the correct number of results but not the actual results. Michael

Just for the record: Since after all both the authority and the bibliographic searches showed the number of results found but not the actual result information I decided to completely reinstall Koha. Now the bibliographic search in staff client and OPAC works, as well as the authority search in the staff client. Though the authority search in the OPAC still doesn't show any results even if the system parameter "OPACShowUnusedAuthorities" is set to "Show". However, for now I hope this is because I didn't link anything yet. Of course it's quite annoying to completely reinstall Koha just because I couldn't find the reason in the logs or via the mailing list but whatever - the search works now which is a good thing. It isn't necessary to reinstall Koha to do things like that. Data and application are totally separate things. In the worst case (and I've never ever had to do this), you could erase the database and the search indices (usually under /var/lib/koha), and it'd be back to fresh. But you don't need to do this either. I have regularly done things like re-link all the authorities and then rebuild all the search indicies from scratch, this often solves most search related problems. -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5FA7 4B49 1E4D CAA4 4C38 8505 77F5 B724 F871 3BDF
