KUDOS IRC Meeting, Thursday Feb 14, 2008 @ 3pm EST
Good Afternoon Everyone! Based on the feedback from those of you who responded, Thursday February 14 at 3pm EST works best for most of you. So, let's do it! Before we meet, a few pieces of information: 1. There is NO agenda really. As I've stated previously, many people who couldn't attend the last KUDOS meeting at ALAMW08 requested a venue for online real-time meetings. AND, we've got a little momentum going, so let's let it roll. Additionally, I believe John Brice is putting together a KUDOS meeting at PLA in Minneapolis. [I planned to help him and wrote up a plan, but as soon as I signed on I was given a huge honkin' project (Migrate a site into Drupal--didn't know anything about Drupal--eek!) and couldn't help organize the meeting , but plan to attend. Additionally, I live in Minneapolis, so if any of you plan to attend PLA and want info, let me know. 2. I do have one quasi-agenda item: FaceBook. If you haven't joined the KUDOS FaceBook Group, you may want to check it out. 3. Rachel Hamilton-Williams wrote the following directions for those of us new to IRC. Please read them, if you will, and follow her lead. * For those of you who are going to join the meeting who haven't used IRC before a few tips that might help... You can of course use the cig off the Koha site, but dedicated software is generally going to be better, more robust and less likely to crash on you just when it all gets interesting. We have people who use vIRC, mIRC and xChat (and no doubt others) so feel free to ask for help on list with your setup. I'd recommend getting your irc software setup and have a bit of a practice before the actual meeting. With a bit of IRC software you can set it to log the meeting so that even if you're going to miss the start of the end you can read up on it later. The default "readback" in IRC clients is generally 500 or so lines, I set mine to 5000 so that I can read back on a day/night of chat if I'm in the mood. 4. See you all on the IRC, Thursday, Feb 14 @ 3pm EST. Let's help Koha and LibLime grow, prosper, and do good work! :-) If you have any questions, please let me know. For those not in the USA/EST timezone, <http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html> is a handy converter for timezones. For example, the meeting is at 7:00am the next day in Sydney e.g. <http://tinyurl.com/2msck7> cheers rickw -- _________________________________ Rick Welykochy || Praxis Services Tis the dream of each programmer before his life is done, To write three lines of APL and make the damn thing run.
Good Afternoon Everyone!
We will be meeting on the #Koha IRC channel, Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 3pm EST (Eastern Standard Time). If you want to know what time that is in your timezone go to http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html There's no agenda, so what to expect:
* A strong user's group can help the development of the product, attract more users and members, and help make the company supporting the product more productive and profitable--all good things for everyone. So, the goal is to simply: o Provide the opportunity for virtual meetings so many members can participate. o Share ideas, issues, and solutions in real-time. o I can share with you what's cookin' in Minnesota with Open Source. o Perhaps you are willing to share what's going on where you are? o Let the conversation flow. o I have one quasi-agenda item: request an additional person to be the administrator of the KUDOS FaceBook Group. * Did you know KUDOS has the following communication tools are available: o Website: http://ccfls.org/kudos/ <http://ccfls.org/kudos/%20> o Listservs: koha@lists.katipo.co.nz ; kudos-list@ccfls.org ; koha-devel@nongnu.org o FaceBook: http://facebook.com o IRC Channel: #koha * That's it. You have to provide the rest, with the following caveat-- o Since John Brice is already working on the organization part of KUDOS at the PLA meeting, let's leave that to him. o John's agenda for PLA is currently: + An organizational meeting to discuss what type of national organization to form the agenda will be as follows: 1. How did we get here? A short history of Koha 2. Do we need a formal users group for Koha? 3. Develop a mission statement. 4. What type of structure do we need? 5. Form a committee of three to write a by-laws proposal. 6. Schedule next meeting.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Otherwise I'll see you on the IRC! I'm new to the IRC client so my nickname is either: Deb or Daberge02. Deb

Please do not write about "the company". Already we are beyond "the company" and into "companies". There's LibLime/MetaVore, Inc, BibLibre SARL, CALYX information essentials and software.coop/Turo Technology LLP at least, off the top of my head. [...]
