Automated Way to Construct Field 2 from Field 1
Hello, all! A bit off topic from Koha, but here goes. Our catalog has quite a few records that have translated title (242) fields. Alas, while the translated titles display in the OPAC and the staff cataloging module, they are not searchable. Through experimentation, I have learned that by reproducing the 242 field into a 740 field, the translated title will indeed be both displayable and searchable. I don't think Koha can help with this, but maybe MarcEdit can. Does anyone remember a video or document (PDF or DOC) about MarcEdit that allows building a field from the elements of another field? Is it the swap utility in MarcEdit Many thanks. -- 気を付けて。 /ki wo tukete/ = Take care. -- Charles. Hi Charles, I wonder if it would not be the easier solution to make 242 searchable? Are you using Zebra or Elasticsearch? If there are other advantages of putting the information in 740 as well, the "Build new field" feature might be what you are looking for: https://marcedit.reeset.net/build-new-field Hope this helps, Katrin On 01.06.21 01:42, Charles Kelley wrote:
