Can Koha server software be installed on a Windows server and have a remote computer on the network run the actual circulation system realm including the incorporation of a barcode reader? Can the barcode reader/circulation system also work on a Mac or would it need to be Windows? Thanks! Dave, Koha 3.x doesn't have a Windows version to my knowledge. However once you have it installed on a Linux server you can access the staff client and the OPAC from any operating system - Windows, Mac, Linux - provided it has a browser (preferably Firefox) installed. That means that if you barcode scanner hardware works with Mac then it will work with Koha. I actually use Mac to access my Koha installation and it works A-OK. Nicole C. Hi Dave, To add to the response about Windows version, you could always use one of the Virtual Appliances that Kyle Hall has set up to run on VMWare or Sun's VirtualBox. The VMware or VirtualBox software are free downloads and run on Windows. They allow you to run the Linux Koha image with little or no knowledge of UNIX and everything is then accessed from a web browser such as Firefox as Nicole says. If this is the way you want to go or to experiment look at this link: http://kylehall.info/index.php/projects/koha/koha-virtual-appliance/ Good luck. Ian On 17/02/2010 20:38, Nicole Engard wrote:
