Hello,
I think this should be directed to MJ Ray and KohaCon12 organizers.
I have some users of Koha in Nigeria, showing interest in attending KohaCon12 in Edinburgh. However, they do require a letter of invitation, to present to their institution and the embassy.
I guess the letter should just state the conference date(s), venue and the fact that it is a free conference but participants will have to sort out feeding/accommodation/visa by themselves.
Is it possible for the conference organizers to do something about this?
Hi Olugbenga, There is an application form for just such a letter at: http://koha-community.org/kohacon12/visa-info/ Good luck, Bob

Thanks Bob for publicising that. To emphasise three points it says on that page: 1. the top reason for visa rejection is when the border guards do not believe that you will return home at the end of your visit. So showing continuing economic and family ties to your homeland may help. 2. the UK is an island in more ways than one: it is not part of the Schengen travel/borders zone which covers part of the EU, so you may need to obtain transit or other visas for any intermediate stops on your journey, even just to change planes. I think this messed up some visits to Kohacon 10. 3. we will be sending invitation letters out in batches. And one more tip it doesn't (and IMO shouldn't) say on that page: Please put in the "other details" box if you are listed in the Koha source code, on the koha-community.org sites like the wiki or bug tracker, and/or if you are proposing to speak to the conference (the call for papers will appear soon, but do not let that stop visa applicants proposing talks with their invitation request now), so that we can mention that in the invitation letter and maybe strengthen it for long-time contributors. Thanks Bob and MJ Ray. Its been some few days since I last checked the community web site so missed that. I have passed on your information to Koha users who are interested in attending the conference from Nigeria. I already have my UK Visa as I visit (England) once in a while though I have never been in Scotland. And I would be flying direct so no transit issues this time :-) Olugbenga Adara
Cross posted to ByWaterSolutions Partners. This is the first time I've put out a proposal for group development on a Koha feature, so please be patient if I'm not following procedure or etiquette. I recently got an informal development estimate through ByWater Solutions that it would cost about $900 to develop a one-click "receive basket" button in the Acquisitions module. For those of you who work with acquisitions, you know that currently you have to receive each separate item in an order basket to completely "receive" an order. It's nice to be able to partially receive order baskets when items arrive in separate shipments, but when the entire order has arrived, a one-click "receive" function is much easier and logical. It is a pretty basic feature in my opinion and I'm surprised it hasn't been developed earlier. I don't think $900 is that much if it is split among interested libraries. Are any libraries interested in pursuing this development with us and splitting the cost?
