[ZEBRA QUERY] A bit flummoxed with the .deb installation of 3.2.7
Hi I've processed with tarball installations (up to 3.2.0) in the past with no problem as far as zebra et al were concerned. this time i'm testing with the .deb files from Koha's debian repos (thanks Lars, Robin and others for the wonderful work) on Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS The site is running fine. I've the koha user created and everything else. However, I'm kinda stumped as what to do with koha-rebuild-zebra script. I've also read the tutorial by Thomas Krichel ( http://openlib.org/home/krichel/courses/lis9012/doc/koha_installation.html) FWIW, I dont have anything under /etc/koha/sites. I'm however able to manually run zebrasrv -f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml, and connect (and auth) via yaz-client. As well as run /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/ rebuild_zebra.pl -v -b -a so what exactly do I need to do with a .deb installation to get things running nice? Can someone give me a breakdown on what i'm missing here. thanks in advance -- Indranil Das Gupta Phone : +91-98300-20971 Blog : http://indradg.randomink.org/blog IRC : indradg on irc://irc.freenode.net Twitter : indradg -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Please exchange editable Office documents only in ODF Format. Hi, I have an installation using the 3.2.5 .deb install on debian squeeze. the zebra indexing has been setup automatically in cron. (for every 10 minutes if I remember correctly.) However I am using the version that allows multiple instances of koha. You may just check your cron files may be it's already setup. Em... no! not in my case :( for instance ps aux | grep zebra gives me nothing aside from the reference to this command itself thanks though, good to know it is working back in 3.2.5 :) cheers, -- Indranil Das Gupta Phone : +91-98300-20971 Blog : http://indradg.randomink.org/blog IRC : indradg on irc://irc.freenode.net Twitter : indradg -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Please exchange editable Office documents only in ODF Format. It still should work on later versions. You say you have nothing in /etc/koha/sites? That means you didn't run koha-create, and so you have no koha instances. If you have no koha instances, zebra has nothing to work with. It you installed the 'koha' package, then that's what's happening. It's not ready yet, and it's been on my radar to fix for a while, I've just been lacking in time. I'd remove the koha package, and use koha-create to give yourself an instance. All the scripts will then work with it. See the details here for more info: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.2_on_Debian_Squeeze Hope this helps! -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204
