I am Lynn Pryor. I am a retired librarian (Australian), presently spending three months in Tanzania, assisting in the library of St John's University of Tanzania (SJUT). The University opened less than three years ago, so the library is struggling to maintain services to 3000 very enthusiastic students. A month ago I arrived to find no catalogue, the shelves in disarray, etc. They need a lot of help. One of my first tasks was to find, set up and have installed a LMS suitable for this setting. A colleague in Melbounre, who herself has been using KOHA for only a matter of months, recommended that I try KOHA. I have waited a month but yesterday a computer was delivered to my desk with KOHA installed. I sat down to assess it in order to determine that this is the right system for us here. I like the look and I enthusiastically set out to set Parameters, before attempting to create any records. However - and here's my first problem for which I seek a solution via the koha list - as I entered information and clicked Enter or Submit, the next screen required me to login again! This happened every time I proceeded to a next page/screen! After about 30 times of this I was about ready to scream!!! I sought out the IT fellows who had installed the program from the downoad. One of them assured me that this is normal, it's the way the program is written. I cannot believe this. Can someone in koha land please resolve this for me? I need to decide by Monday whether to go ahead with KOHA, as I have only 9 weeks remaining here and cannot afford to waste time playing around with programs! Please HELP! Hi Lynn Cookies would definitely be my first suspect, either that or are you behind a proxy that changes ipnumbers? The other thing to check is in systempreferences, there is a preference for session timeout, you could check that isn't set to a low number. But no, that is most definitely not normal behaviour Chris

Many thanks to all who have responded to my plea for help. I have now had an opportunity to speak with the head of IT (she was away all this past week) who agrees that cookies could well be the issue. So I'm waiting until Monday to try to resolve the matter. This group is a womnderful source of assitance. Many thanks. Lynn On Sun, May 2, 2010 at 3:03 PM, Chris Cormack <chris@bigballofwax.co.nz>wrote:

Nope, that;'s not normal behavior. Most knowledgeable people will be gone for the weekend, but they will need more information too, so, can you check your error logs? Furthermore, what version of Koha are you running, and are you on Linux or Windows? And running with or without Zebra? If you are on Linux, error log files are in /var/log/koha Marty --- On Sat, 5/1/10, Lynn Pryor <lynnexcal@gmail.com> wrote: From: Lynn Pryor <lynnexcal@gmail.com> Subject: [Koha] Introducing myself, advice please To: koha@lists.katipo.co.nz Received: Saturday, May 1, 2010, 1:19 AM I am Lynn Pryor. Hi Lynn / All I got this error when I was using Koha 2.2.9 for Windows. It was due to the MySQL incompatibility. Please check the versions of all software. I will suggest to visit http://koha.rwjr.com/ for recommended versions. Regards, Ata http://www.lisolutions.org/ 2010/5/1 Lynn Pryor <lynnexcal@gmail.com>
