All, I'll admit to being terribly jealous of everyone who was able to attend in the KUDOS Conference in Madison, Wisconsin earlier this week. I have found some of the presentations already posted online: Galen Charlton's on Metadata, MetaKoha ( http://slidesha.re/jk0BGJ ), Ian Wall's on Git 101 ( http://www.slideshare.net/sekjal/git-101-or-how-to-sanely-manage-your-koha-c... ), and Ruth Bavousett's on Zen and the Art of ILS Migration at http://www.librarygeekgirl.net/downloads/ (Myshkin on the Lightning talk link is a twin of my cat, Sally, BTW.) Anyway, I was wondering if any of the other presentations are available online? I asked everyone to put their presentations in Slideshare group - some of them are there: http://www.slideshare.net/group/koha-ils Nicole On Fri, May 6, 2011 at 2:22 PM, Linda Culberson <lculber@mdah.state.ms.us> wrote:

Could we put them on koha-community sites and/or the wiki instead of the nasty register-and-accept-BOGU-terms-to-download Slideshare? We can put them anywhere the speakers want :) Many speakers already had them on Slideshare so I just made sure that they were added to the group so that they were easy to find. I do not know for sure if the size and filetype limits on the wiki will allow for uploading of big presentations. Nicole

Please can you lead them into freedom! If you're registered, can you message the speakers on Slideshare and ask them if it's OK to upload them elsewhere, please? Most of the presenters don't seem to show email info on their profiles, so it's fiddly for me to contact them. Actually, it looks like many of the presenters might be Koha contributors who are reading this already. Could we upload them to a community site, please?

Anyone know how to find out? http://wiki.koha-community.org/w/index.php?title=Special:ListFiles&sort=img_size&limit=50&desc=1 only suggests it goes over 1Mb but I think web-resolution PDFs would be fairly small, wouldn't they? MJ, Many of us have been unable to upload anything (size doesn't matter) to the wiki. You know me, I'm all for sharing, if there is a tool that works I'm gonna use it, if there's more than one tool that works, I'm gonna use them all :) But right now, we have one tool that's working and that people are accessing successfully. Once the slides can be uploaded to the wiki or to the KUDOS site then I'll message the group gladly. Nicole

OK, it worked for me last I tried and looks like it's worked for you in the past (see link above). I retested and it failed. Has anyone reported this problem before? I couldn't find any details, so I've filed Bug 6324 http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=6324 - please merge that with your bug if I missed it.

Slideshare doesn't work for many people. It works for some. It's the sort of divided private web service which Koha competes with. It's disappointing to see the Koha community liberating in one way, but entrapping in another. Please, if you find a community tool not working, let people know about the bug. I don't think we have the sort of self-testing going on yet that private companies do.
Once the slides can be uploaded to the wiki or to the KUDOS site then I'll message the group gladly.
Thank you. Let's see if the permissions can be fixed swiftly.
