Serial-Article Indexing
I am entering the data of our Serials in Koha. I have some doubts.pls educate me regarding those as in following:- 1) If a entered USI Journal (Quarterly). then how can I do the article indexing of USI Journal in koha. ex. if Jan-April has 7 articles then where should I entered the title of these 7 articles in Koha. 2) If my user is searching for specific article then OPAC should show the Name of Journal, Issue and article title. We create individual catalogue records for each article and link them to the host journal record using 773 fields (MARC21). You can see what they look like here: http://catalogue.efdss.org/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=tocher Tocher is the name of the journal, and the articles are listed after that. Hello Elaine, We also use the same MARC 773 field for indexing journal articles. However, I would like to know how do you get your OPAC catalogue to show "Availability: Periodical article" (on the search result list) and "Holdings: Periodical article" (on the detailed item record)? Our shows "Availability: No items available" (on the search result list) and "No physical items for this record" (on the detailed item record)! This can be a little confusing. For example: http://opac.translib.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=11516&query_desc=kw%2Cwrdl%3A%20railway%20digest Regards, Iming ----- Iming Chan Translib Information Service Melbourne, Australia http://opac.translib.com Phone: +61 3 9801 5097 Fax: +61 3 9801 4024 E-mail: iming@translib.com -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Serial-Article-Indexing-tp5809383p5809903.... Home › Administration › System preferences> Cataloging preferences> Record Structure > AlternateHoldingsField AlternateHoldingsSeparator - we use the 942c here. This pulls the item type (in this case Periodical article) from the 942c and displays it as holdings if there is no item record attached. Otherwise you do get the No items available note, which isn't that helpful in the case of articles. Elaine On Wed, Aug 27, 2014 at 1:58 PM, Iming Chan <imingchan@yahoo.com.au> wrote:
